London

The Queen's GuardTomi said this is art Some old building...

I started this adventure on a sunny Tuesday afternoon in Houston. I had a brief layover in London on my way to Egypt, which would give me the opportunity to visit Tom as well as Rob. The 10-hour flight to London seemed short, thanks to a good book and a comfortable British Airways 747. I arrived in Gatwick just in time… to watch the sun come up! Fortunately I was not too tired, so after transferring to Heathrow I gave Tom a ring and then met him in Leicester Square. I had a bit of a problem getting there, it seems that the London Underground is a bit bigger than the Caracas Metro line.

Once meeting up with Tom I was treated to a whirlwind tour of London, taking in the Queen's Guard, Big Ben, and the River Thames. Tom showed me his pictures from his recent travels to Asia before we lunched at an authentic Flemish restaurant. It was at lunch that I finally realized just how tired I was. I mustered up all the energy I had left to take the Underground back to the airport and get on my flight to Cairo. I was asleep before the plane left the ground and didn't wake up until it touched down!

On to Cairo...
